The Foundation has identified a number of locations around the world (and beyond it) that are actively anomalous and support permanent communities. While these places would generally be given an SCP designation and evacuated, in some cases this is not possible, due to practical or political constraints. Although not all Locations of Interest are fully controlled by the Foundation, containment measures are in place to ensure that the general public remains unaware of their existence or anomalous nature.

An inhabited anomalous location designated as a Nexus permits residents to remain within it, under the supervision of the Foundation or another Group of Interest, since the anomalous properties of a Nexus generally cannot extend beyond its borders. Additionally, the Foundation has accepted the existence of a number of Free Ports, paranormal enclaves accessible only through anomalous means, within which the concealment and containment of anomalies is unnecessary. These communities are usually self-managed, with observation from the Foundation and local governments to ensure that anomalous phenomena remain within the Free Port.

Nexus features extranormal events and anomalous objects at a higher-than-normal rate. These are generally only noticeable to permanent inhabitants, requiring little or no cover-up by the Foundation.

名称はグリム兄弟版の『眠れる森の美女』である、『茨姫』(Little Briar Rose) に由来します。

Name derived from the Brother's Grimm version of Sleeping Beauty, Little Briar Rose.

Anomalous activity is an integral part of the town. The Foundation must regularly perform cover-ups, and takes measures to prevent visitors, such as removing the settlement from maps of the area. Containment Facilities may be required on a case-by-case basis.

Frequent and unpredictable anomalous activity, which the Foundation deals with as it occurs. The Foundation actively prevents civilians from entering the area. Containment facility required.

名称はジェームズ・ヒルトンの小説『失われた地平線』に由来しています²。

Name derived from James Hilton's Lost Horizon novel.

The entire place is anomalous, and almost entirely cut off from the non-anomalous world. Special measures may be required to keep personnel safe. Entry and exit tightly controlled. Containment facility required.

Hubs of commerce and living, accessible only through anomalous means. These communities are aware of the anomalous, and make use of it in everyday life. These hubs are protected by national or international law, restricting or forbidding Foundation intervention, with law enforcement within the Nexus often performed by its own local government.

Anomalous location connected to one or more alternate realities in addition to our own reality. These may be alternative timelines that diverged from our own at some point in the past, or entire universes operating under different physical laws to our own. These alternate realities are distinct from so-called "pocket universes", which are also separated from baseline reality, but are significantly smaller in size.

説明: 異次元に存在する広大な図書館であり、これまでに書かれた、そしてこれから生み出されることになる、あらゆる知識を収蔵しているとされています。財団が「図書館」を認知したのは1955年のことですが、施設自体はそれよりも遥か昔から存在しています。「図書館」はGoI-014 ("蛇の手") の活動拠点として機能しているほか、「司書」なる様々な非人間的存在が本ネクサスの管理や保護を実行しています。「図書館」やその蔵書、パトロンに危害を加える人物は罰としてこうした「司書」に姿を変えられ、罪の分だけ働かされることとなります。この運命は「図書館」への強硬侵入を行った相当数の財団職員にも降りかかっていることから、財団は本ロケーションに関してはより外交寄りのアプローチを採用しています。

Description: A vast extradimensional library, allegedly containing all knowledge ever written down and yet to be created. Although the Foundation has been aware of the Library since 1955, it has existed for much longer than that. The Library serves as the base of operations for GoI-014 ("Serpent's Hand"), but various inhuman entities known as Librarians are the ones that actually maintain and protect the Nexus. Individuals that harm the Library, its books, or its patrons are punished by being transformed into one of these Librarians to work off their debt. This fate has befallen a number of Foundation personnel during incursions into the Library, and so the Foundation has adopted a more diplomatic approach to this specific location.

説明: Nx-02は夢想学的^{オネイロロジカル}トリガーの対象者のみがアクセスできる異次元宇宙に位置する島であり、総数不明な霊的存在が居住しています。現在、財団とネクサス統治者の間での緊張の高まりから、財団のこの宇宙へのアクセス権は取り消されています。当初、Nx-02は妖精^フェイにより創造・統治されていたと考えられていたものの、近年発見された証拠は、本ネクサスが実際には「メイビン」 (Mabyn) なる巨大な技術・魔導官僚主義^{テクノマゴクラシー}の、人間族主導政府に属していたことを示しています。ローマによるブリテン侵略のどこかのタイミングで、メイビン政府は理由は不明ながら崩壊を迎えたようです。この崩壊の際に、Nx-02の支配権は妖精へと移り、基底現実から離脱しました。

Description: An island located in an extradimensional space accessible only to those subject to oneirological triggers, Nx-02 is populated by an unknown number of spectral entities. Currently, due to growing animosity between the Foundation and the ruler of Nexus, the Foundation's access to the space has been revoked. Initially believed to have been created and governed by the Fae, recent evidence suggests the Nexus was actually part of a large techno-magocracy, tribal human government, known as the Mabyn. At some point, during the Roman invasion of Britain, the Mabyn government collapsed for an unknown reason. During this collapse, Nx-02's control was taken by the Fae and removed from baseline reality.

説明: 大西洋に浮かぶ魔法の島であり、7年ごとに1日だけ非異常の手段でアクセス可能です。本ネクサスはトゥアハ・デ・ダナーン (Tuatha Dé Danann) により統治され、財団含む多数のGoIが活動する中立地帯として機能しています。本ネクサスはLTE-0851-Cetusの襲撃で壊滅的被害を受けており、存続こそしているものの、影響力、立場、人口といった面では大きく弱体化しています。

Description: A magical island in the Atlantic Ocean, accessible through non-anomalous means only one day every seven years. The Nexus is governed by the Tuatha Dé Danann, and acted as a neutral ground for many GoI to operate in, including the Foundation. Devastated following the arrival of LTE-0851-Cetus, the Nexus remains, but is significantly diminished in power, strength, and population.

Description: Murky Lake is a town that has been abandoned since 1936, before which it was notable for an unusually high rate of disappearances and other anomalous events. In addition to lacking a human population at present, wildlife, chlorophyl, music and many parts of the buildings are absent. A number of intangible humanoid figures have been sighted within the Nexus, but all attempts at communication have failed.

説明: 反ミーム性を持つ非ユークリッド空間であり、道教の儀式を実行することでのみアクセス可能です。ネクサス自体は小さな谷であり、かつて栄えていた道教の一派 “北帝派”^{ベイディパイ}の拠点として使用されていた過去を持ちます。北帝派は古代中国の建築様式に則り、ネクサス内に多数の建造物を建設しました。なお、ネクサス上空には発光する辰砂色の雲が浮かんでいるほか、複数の絶滅種や異常な変化を遂げた野生動物が確認されています。Nx-CN-08は現在世界オカルト連合メンバーにより占領されており、財団による詳細な調査を妨げています。

Description: A non-euclidean space with antimemetic properties, accessible only by performing a series of Taoist rituals. The Nexus itself is a small valley that used to serve as the base of a once prosperous Taoist sect known as the Beidi, who built numerous structures within the Nexus in an ancient Chinese architectural style. Notably, the sky above the Nexus is filled with glowing cinnabar-colored clouds, and multiple exinct or anomalous altered wildlife have been observed inside. Nx-CN-08 is currently occupied by members of the Global Occult Coalition, preventing further exploration by the Foundation.

Description: A floating island in an extradimensional reality that otherwise consists of a completely empty sky. The kingdom was founded in the 17th Century by the inhabitants of Saint-Guérin in Savoy, France, who travelled through cracks in the sky to colonise the landmass. The intervention of the Catholic Church stranded them there, causing the isolated society to develop their own identity as "Isleans". Their paratechnology eventually enabled them create interdimensional portals, resuming contact with the baseline universe, although there is tension between factions that wish for peace, and others that believe the "Worldians" should be conquered. The Foundation is collaborating with the peace-seeking Unislists to prevent conflict and ensure the existence of The Kingdom of Univers'Isle remains concealed.

Location: Underneath the Guiana Shield, South America.

Containment Facility: Site-14

説明: 南アメリカ大陸の地下40km以深に位置し、大型の知的齧歯類Rattus abissosが生息する地下生態系です。この種はその生存の為、生体奇跡術と超常鉱物学の技術に依存しています。サイト-14はこのネクサスの非ヒト住人との外交関係を保ち、他団体による探査を阻止し、この地底空間の奥深くで発見された存在を封じ込めるために協力しています。その深度の為、これ以上の収容活動は不要です。

Description: Subterranean ecosystem located at least 40 km beneath South America, inhabited by large intelligent rodents of the Rattus abissos species. These rodents rely on their skill at biothaumaturgy and paraminerology for survival. Site-14 maintains a diplomatic relationship with these non-human inhabitants of the Nexus, prevents exploration by other groups, and cooperates to contain entities found deeper within the Abyss. Due to its depth, no further containment is required.

Description: Located southeast of Portland, Oregon, Boring's main anomaly is the increased occurrence of almost all known varieties of anomalous fauna. Additionally, Boring is headquarters to Wilson's Wildlife Solutions (WWS), an organisation concentrated on the discovery and preservation of anomalous flora and fauna. Following the establishment of the Boring Agreement, the Foundation — via Site-64 — and WWS have agreed to support each other and not to interfere in each other's operations, with WWS handling containment of most of the anomalous animals in Boring.

説明: 町の創立者であるジャクソン・スロースにちなんで名付けられたスロースピットは、自らの物語力ナラティブフォースによって動いているネクサスです。街に関連するアノマリーは数多く、一部は依然として消息不明のままです。既知のアノマリーには、毎週火曜日の午後12:00にメインストリートで起きる重力反転、知性を持って喋り祈祷するカマキリの群れ、口に出した人は不幸に見舞われる文章「失敗するわけ無いだろ？」(What could possibly go wrong?) やその変種等があります。山羊男ゴートマン、罪深きジェシーシニング・ジェシー、鈎吊りの男フック・ハングドマン等、数多くの未分類異常存在 (Unclassed Anomalous Entities, UAEs) がスロースピットのナラティブフォースから出現しています。それなりにアホっぽくてフレンドリーな外観ではありますが、それでもスロースピットは複数の悍ましい事件の起きる土地であり、自らの暗い歴史を抱えています。

Description: Named after the town's founder, Jackson Sloth, Sloth's Pit is a Nexus driven by its own narrative force. Many anomalies are associated with the town, with some still unaccounted for. Known anomalies include gravity reversal in Main Street every Tuesday at 12:00 PM., a colony of sentient, talking praying mantises, and individuals meeting misfortune upon saying the phrase "What could possibly go wrong?" or variants of it. Many Unclassed Anomalous Entities (UAEs) have emerged from the narrative force of Sloth's Pit, including The Goatman, Sinning Jessie, and the Hook Handed Man. Despite its often goofy and friendly appearance, Sloth's Pit has also been host to multiple terrifying incidents and has its own dark history.

説明: ヴェールの外において、オリーブヒルは有名な観光地であるタイガーツ州立森林公園でよく知られています。しかし、真夜中の遅い時間になると、幼い子供たちが行方不明になる、森林の中から奇妙な音が聞こえるなど、奇妙な出来事が発生します。森林に魔女が住んでいるという噂は、子供たちの失踪を嘆き悲しむ町の住民をさらに苦しめました。行方不明の子供たちを調査するために森林に入った人々が依然として帰還しないため、一般市民や財団職員は森林そのものを忌避しています。

Description: Outside the Veil, Olive Hill is well-known for the Tygarts State Forest; a popular attraction for tourists. But come the later hours of midnight, strange events happen, such as young children going missing and strange noises emanating from the forest itself. Rumors of a witch inhabiting the forest also plague the city's populace as they mourn over their lost children. The forest itself has been avoided by civilians and Foundation personnel alike, as many have entered to explore and investigate the missing children but have yet to return.

The town of Negaseattle is a Foundation retirement village, populated entirely by Foundation employees and former employees and hidden from civilians. It's also the home of the SCP-5132 Project.

Description: Designated as a Nexus after the New Jersey Rapture, in which 25 kind-hearted individuals inexplicably demanifested. Since this event, the city has gained an abnormal increase in "unfortunate" events, its background Akiva radiation has dropped down to 0 and its residents have been experiencing a constant feeling of despair, hopelessness and distrust on others, as well as general apathy towards the human condition. Notably, these emotions are temporarily diminished when inside the city's various casinos, although whether this is an anomalous phenomenon or a natural reaction is a matter of debate.

Today, the Nexus is a hotbed of anomalous activity, including the apparition of disembodied limbs and voices belonging to the slaughtered townsfolk.

Due to the control exerted by the Bavarian Illuminati¹¹ upon the city, the Foundation must operate as a black-ops unit to gain control of the city.

The Nexus is also covered in a dense, green miasma, which does not dissipate or affect the population of Harkness. Harkness Nexus is used as a vaccine procurement and testing facility, due to the rare specimens present within the Nexus.

To manage the city and raise funds for the church a council composed of six individuals known as the Hexagon control the city, conducting their will through a special task force known as The Compilation Layer. While officially only Maxwellists are allowed to access the network, it is possible for AIs and humans alike to infiltrate the city through 'backdoors'.

Description: One of the few Nexuses of extraterrestrial origin, Puerto Extraño was created when an exploration group sent by Argentina's Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation discovered an alien terraformer in the Antarctic and brought it back to their country. The colonists themselves were physically altered by exposure to the device, and its activation created an alien atmosphere, with organisms in it being physically altered to adapt them to the light of a grey sun. Additionally, a neural network formed, allowing the sharing of emotions within the confines of the Nexus. This resulted in the voluntary self-isolation of its inhabitants.

Residing here is Species of Interest-9155 ("Bacteranoids") — gelatinous, metamorphic organisms responsible for creating entire civilizations, economies and cultures all revolving around the liquid that forms their landscape. A former utopia, Nx-933 and its society is suffering from an ecological catastrophe caused by the gradual, inexplicable disappearance of its main fluid, forcing the species' most brilliant minds to search outside the bounds of their universe in hopes of discovering an alternate source of the only liquid that can save them from an impeding apocalypse.

Description: Backdoor SoHo is a Free Port dedicated mostly to the artistic display of the anomalous, similar to Manhattan's SoHo, with the primary entrance located off of Houston Street. Backdoor SoHo hosts numerous studios and galleries, as well as Groups of Interest such as Ambrose Restaurants. Access is controlled by the Doorman Charlie, and the area is policed to some extent by the FBI's Unusual Incident's Unit. However, the Free Port remains a hotbed of paracriminal activity, ranging from black market transactions brokered by Marshal, Carter and Dark, to illegal medical clinics operated by the sarkic Weilstedt.

Description: Eurtec is the prime technological metropolis in the west, and is one of the Global Occult Coalition's most ambitious projects. It was founded by the Servants of the Silicon Nornir²⁰ in order to speed up the development of paratechnology for the purposes of their own agenda. While relatively young, it has nonetheless established a presence in the anomalous world as an important global city and the primary European Free Port. However, beneath Eurtec's advanced technology and shining skyscrapers is a lower city infamous for crime and violence, earning it the nickname of the "Blood District".

La Rue is home to a number of anomalous entities, many with nowhere else to go, and on Market Days it serves as a hub for trade in anomalous items. While lacking any formal system of government, its residents handle their own affairs, and overt intervention by the Foundation is not currently deemed necessary.

Description: Prior to its recovery by the Foundation, SCP-184 was utilised by an unknown party to significantly expand the internal space of buildings within the Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong. Although these regions were thought to have been destroyed by the demolition of the city in 1994, it appears that significant portions of it survived within a pocket dimension. The extradimesional space, a labyrinth of interconnected rooms, corrridors and stairwells, has reportedly been divided into 12 districts, each controlled by a crime syndicate. The Foundation and Global Occult Coalition are currently working on finding a way into the paranormal enclave, although all attempts so far have failed.

Since the 2000s, the city has suffered heavy riots and demonstrations, eventually gaining greater independence. Gorična is also famous for political scandals and the presence of mafia-type groups that control all the anomalous black market.

FP-178: Butai

Surveillance Facility: Zone-42

Description: Butai is a city-state located in a pocket dimension and founded by Germany and Japan during some point in the 1890s for the purpose of strengthening the esoteric and paratechnological weapons industry. However, from 1933 to 1943, Butai found itself temporarily isolated from the rest of the world, forcing its autonomy and causing the development of its own cultures, drawing on previously existing ones. Butai is currently one of the main hotbeds of anomalous trade. It is protected and partially guarded by the German Regional Council, whose operations center with respect to this location is located in Zone-42, which serves as both a facility and an embassy of the Foundation in the place, where since 2001 it has seen the blossoming of positive relations between the city-state and the Foundation.

Description: Though contained as part of SCP-2264, the extradimensional city of Alagadda is not controlled by the Foundation, but is instead ruled by a powerful reality-bending entity known as the Hanged King. Within the city itself, architecture is non-euclidean, the direction of gravity is variable, and the only colors that occur are black, white, yellow, and red. Expeditions into Alagadda have also reported the replacement of all clothing with costumes appropriate for a masquerade ball, the inability to bring back any objects, and difficulty in estimating the passage of time. Further exploration has been put on hold, following opposition from the city's ruler.

Description: A small crevasse in a remote region of Antarctica leads to Universe B-10208-Alpha-1483, an alternate reality in which Antarctica is a more temperate region inhabited by sapient hominids known as Homo antarcticus. Their level of technological advancement is roughly equivalent to baseline humans, with more advanced nuclear, geothermal, and solar power, but more primitive communication and aerospace technologies. The continent is unified under the Third Antarctic Empire, which was founded in 1526 CE. The Foundation is currently engaged in establishing a diplomatic relationship with the Empire, facilitating cross-cultural exchange of knowledge and technology.

Inhabited by a Homo sapiens sidhe subspecies that has radically adapted to their harsh environment, it is filled with ruins and other destroyed structures that have once been a part of the Fae Empire prior to its fall. Though the Trench was previously isolated and hidden from the outside world via the deployment of masquerading magic, it was discovered by the Foundation in 2010, and sporadical outside contact prior to 2010 has also been noted to occur.

Farpoint Station may also be utilised for the resupply of extrasolar missions, although such ventures are not currently possible with non-anomalous technology.

Description: Hong Shing is located in a pocket dimension that connects the city of Hong Kong to Hong Gong, its counterpart in a parallel universe. Hong Shing duplicates the geography of the Hong Kong peninsula and islands, but is surrounded by an impassable barrier, notably used as a canvas by local anartists known as "Sky Wall Painters." Hong Shing is monitored by governments and normalcy organisations from both universes, and the Foundation has established a working relationship with its counterpart from the Right Phase, an organisation known as the Zhujihui. Hong Shing is regarded as neutral space between worlds, giving it a high level of autonomy and allowing the city to serve as a hub for cross-cultural exchange, paratechnology, and thaumaturgy.

Description: SCP-2344, also known as "The Hydra’s Spine," is an expansive extradimensional network of underground tunnels, connecting together doorways leading to other planets and realities. The majority of these tunnels are of uniform appearance, passing through smooth dirt, although other appearances have been observed. Entry through a doorway connected to the network can be facilitated by physical contact with at least 7 grams of biological material from a member of the genus Gallus (Chicken), or local equivalent. Exploration is ongoing, including the establishment of outposts for resupply and diplomatic relations, but is complicated by the fact that many doorways connect to the Wanderer's Library.

Description: SCP-3008-1 is an extradimensional space of potentially infinite volume, resembling an IKEA store and located within a building previously owned and operated by the Swedish furniture retailer. It is inhabited by an unknown number of trapped humans, as well as by faceless entities dressed as IKEA employees (SCP-3008-2). Although harmless at times corresponding to the original store's opening hours, these entities exhibit violent hostility during periods when the store would be closed. The Foundation prevents further entry and amnesticises any individual that manages to leave, although escape is infrequent due to the labyrinthine layout of the extradimensional store.

Description: An extradimensional space consisting of an island floating in an ocean, experiencing a cycle of perpetual evening and night. Koigarezaki serves as a refuge for a number of Persons and Groups of Interest, however the Foundation has so far been unable to successfully infiltrate this Location of Interest (LoI-0850). However, investigations by the Special Affairs Division of the Public Security Bureau of the Metropolitan Police Department have independently obtained some information on this Location, some of which the Foundation has access to. It is known that a number of corporations are based in the region, including the publisher of the Koigarezaki Shimbun, a newspaper documenting political and social events in the anomalous world.

The town was run by the Chicago Rum Runners until 1982, and the anomalous crime syndicate maintains a presence to this day. Little Havana is the largest paranormal enclave in the Caribbean, containing two universities as well as the Royal Palm Hotel run by Marshall, Carter & Dark. Due to tensions with the Cuban government, the Foundation has been unable to get the inhabitants of the Nexus to sign the Treaty on Free Anomalous Communities.

Description: Paramax is a maximum security prison for paranormal criminals. Although built with Foundation and Global Occult Coalition assistance, it is operated as a United States Penitentiary by the FBI's Unusual Incidents Unit, holding paracriminals from across North America for the duration of their sentences. The prison was built on a slab of granite suspended in an artificial orphan universe half a mile in diameter, and is only accessible by temporary ways created using thaumatology. Through the use of reality anchors, anti-occult sigils and psionic dampeners, the prison can contain the majority of humanoid anomalies, with specialized countermeasures enabling the maximum security wing to hold even the most powerful mages, reality benders and demigods. No prisoner has ever successfully escaped from Paramax.

This unnamed space is inhabited by a number of sapient anomalous entities of variable appearance. Most can be interacted with safely as long as 4000-SEP precautions are followed, most notably the requirement to never give any inhabitant of the tree-lined region a name or consistent descriptor.

Description: An extradimensional space accessible from the Kitakami Mountains on the outskirts of Tōno City, inhabited by anomalous entities commonly referred to as "Yōkai", in addition to a small number of humans and people of mixed-blood. The area is known as Samuto-gou, and has been inhabited since ancient times by beings believed to be divine by their worshippers. The land is surrounded by freshwater, with a central mountain known as Mt. Kakura. It is mostly rural, although there is some modern technology imported by residents, including devices powered by anomalous means. The largest settlement is Samuto, located in the east and consisting of the more urbanised Kami-Samuto district and the more rural Shimo-Samuto. The mountainous northern region of On-ga-dake has unpredictable anomalous weather patterns, while the southwestern area connects with a metaphysical region called "Ihatov", an area so unstable that even local residents cannot forecast its phenomena.

Description: SCP-4661 is a region of space in which the city of Las Vegas overlaps with the Fourth Circle of Hell, the domain of greed. While the Foundation's actions in 1992 were able to anchor Las Vegas to baseline reality, Las Vegas and Hell continue to influence each other. This has resulted in a region of the Fourth Circle resembling a distorted and exaggerated version of Las Vegas, and has also enabled a number of Tartarean-class demonic entities to cross over from this demonic metropolis into Las Vegas. These entities are drawn towards and draw power from alcohol use, sexual intercourse, and gambling, and so it has been deemed impossible to fully exclude them from Las Vegas. Instead, containment of Undervegas involves cooperation with and employment of these Tartarean Entities, to ensure that the general public remains unaware of their presence within the city.

While it is currently only inhabited by a number of bio-mechanical constructs, it appears to have been constructed through anomalous means to serve as a shelter for survivors of an XK-class end-of-the-world event. The suitability of the location as a disaster shelter is currently being assessed by the Foundation, although it is far from being an ideal option.

This page compiles a list of settings that have been used within the SCP Universe, places for readers to explore and for writers to utilise in their own work. Note that their coexistence on this page does not mean they necessarily coexist in-universe! Also note that different depictions of a location may differ, there's nothing incorrect about changing some of the details to better fit the story you intend to tell.

Nexuses were originally defined on the Nexus Hub as a specific type of article format, although over time various locations were added to the page that were described as Nexuses in SCPs and Tales. Free Ports were added later, as another type of anomalous location. When working on this rewrite, we decided to include a number of additional "Locations of Interest" that appeared in multiple articles, but weren't officially defined as a Nexus or Free Port. Some anomalous locations will be been omitted from the list above - they either don't have at least 2 appearances in published articles, or they simply haven't been added to the page yet.

The map is the best representation we can manage of where the Locations shown on it are, or at least where they are accessible from, in the case of locations within pocket dimensions or alternate realities. Although it was created using the same map as the Facilities page, created by L200, it was inspired by earlier work by IAmPuzzlr, posted on reddit.

The images used here are a mixture of flags, coats of arms, signs and logos — anything that can represent a place. Not all locations have one, and people are welcome to create more. Some existed already, while others were created specifically to be included on this page — feel free to use them elsewhere!

This collaborative page is open for any site member to edit and add to, but you're welcome to make suggestions or get feedback on proposed additions in the Discussion. In general, the idea was to be as inclusive as possible within the general scope of "inhabited anomalous location".

Adding New Locations

The first section of this page is for all locations described in a Nexus format. Additional locations that are referred to as a Nexus within an SCP or Tale can be added, as long as they're given a number and described in sufficient detail to enable their inclusion here. Merely mentioning the name and Nexus number is insufficient, although there is a list of those in the collapsible above. International articles using a non-standard format will be added to the list at the appropriate place numerically if articles are translated, treating Nx-CN-08 as equivalent to Nx-08.

Free Ports don't have a specified format in exactly the same way, but will generally be treated the same as just another type of Nexus — if the Free Port number appears in a published article, it can be included in the list.

For Locations of Interest, we're looking for a minimum of 2 appearances — otherwise we'd end up listing every SCP with the location and city tags, and we want to keep the length of this page manageable. To count as an appearance, we're looking for more than just the mention of the name — part of the story should focus on or take place in the Location of Interest. Additionally, a Location of Interest must be a place that can actually be visited in-universe, not somewhere that used to exist but no longer does (unless, for example, the ruins of it remain interesting). For an alternate reality to count as a Location of Interest, there will need to be a reliable way for people to travel there, as well as some way of communicating information about it back.

The list within the collapsible is much more inclusive of any location, from any branch of the SCP Foundation, even if it's just mentioned and even if it only appears in untranslated articles. However, for any of these to be added to the main list, we're going to need a decent description of the place, and at least one appearance in an article in English (translations posted on the International Translation archive count for inclusion on this list).

Adding to the Map

If a Location is added to this list, it can also be added to the map, to indicate the general area it's located in or accessible from. Instructions for doing this can be found on the page where the map is hosted.

Adding New Images

New images to represent specific locations can be added to the page, but before uploading them it's best to get feedback from the creator of the location, or at least from someone who's written articles featuring the location. While there's flexibility on size since the proportions of these images vary, as a general rule the height should not be more than 150px, and the width should not be more than 200px. To keep things consistent, for flags and other wide images set width="200px", while for coats of arms, seals and other round or square logos, set height="150px".
